Oh my goodness. The holidays have really crept up on me on faster than an avocado goes bad.

Now if you’re feeling me on this, chances are you’re also ever-so-slightly freaking out about your holiday shopping list.

Luckily, the best holiday gifts are those made by hand… and some of the best homemade holiday gifts are a breeze to whip up in a jiffy.

Body scrubs, for example.

Everyone loves a great body scrub (even if they don’t know it yet) and they could not be easier to make.

Plus, they make a particularly nice treat this time of year, when our skin is parched from the dry winter air and needs a little extra TLC.

This DIY all-natural sugar scrub trio smells yummy-enough-to-eat and will make the perfect handmade holiday gift.

Each is made with just a few simple ingredients and smells absolutely divine.

In addition to sloughing away dry skin, these scrubs moisturize, and so really double as both body scrub and lotion.

But before we get started… a quick note about which oils are best for making sugar scrubs!

If you’re new to DIYing or are extra short on time, you may be tempted to just use olive oil in your sugar scrubs. I beg you: DO NOT do this! They won’t smell good.

Instead, run to the local pharmacy or health food store to grab some apricot kernel, sweet almond, jojoba, or kukui oil. These oils are easily absorbed and have a very faint scent which is why they are ideal for sugar scrubs.

  1. Hi! Thank you for this super-cute & useful gift idea! My one question is: What are the directions on how to use them?

  2. I’ve made scrubs before using raw sugar that I buy in bulk. I gave them as gifts and didn’t have any left over for me!! What do you think the difference is on these different kinds of sugar? Size of the crystal?
