The automatic dishwasher: what a life-changer.
I’d know because I spent most of my life without one. And I seriously had NO idea what I was missing. All the time I’ve saved just in the past few months! I almost feel a little bad for my kitchen sponge, which can sometimes go all day without being touched (poor little guy; just can’t compete).
For awhile, I was purchasing all-natural dishwasher detergent pods. But I took a look at the ingredient label and the DIYer in me thought “I can make this.”
So here you go!
DIY All-Natural Powder Dishwasher Detergent
You’ll Need:
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1 cup washing soda
- 1 cup salt
- 1/2 cup shredded bar castile soap
- Air-tight container
- Tablespoon measuring spoon
Directions:
Add all of the ingredients to the container, and secure the lid. Shake to combine the ingredients.
Use 1 tablespoon of detergent per load.
Add a “sachet” of bentonite clay to keep from clumping. I substitute white vinegar for a rinse aid.
Thank you Nadia for all your wonderful blogs. I most certainly have made more of a conscious effort to be healthy in all aspects of my life. I haven’t gotten quite the hang of drinking apple cider vinegar in the mornings, however I have been taking my probiotic first thing when I get up in the mornings. My face has cleared up a lot and my mood and energy levels have really improved. My husband and I just purchased a home and I am determined to make it as chemically free as possible. I’ve been using a lot of your tips to make sure our air is clean and that we use those wool dryer balls, and a lot of other things from your blogs. I just wanted to take the time to say thank you for giving me good tips to make my life much more clean and bright.

I love your recipes, but most of all I love your desire to teach people better ways to clean!!!!
Hi Nadia, This seems great! Although, how many loads of dishes will this do? I checked out the products and making this at home costs about $40!
